First post of 2019. Max is away at Mark’s in Aspen. I returned from Shawn Toppel’s wedding in NJ two days ago. So now it is me, Karolina, and Newey. Newey and I are sick. This is Elliot’s first illness, and it is keeping Karolina awake at night. She is miserable. I’m sick, but she is more miserable than me.
A few weeks ago in December 2018, Elliot tried to put the Monchichi doll’s pacifier (“boote“) into his mouth.

See the white thing in its right hand? Elliot recognized it and placed it into his mouth to suck, probably after seeing it in the doll’s mouth.
Tonight he tried to put his nightcap onto his head. He couldn’t do it, but the attempt was adorable. That he recognizes the cap and knows what to do with it amazes me. Similar to, how a couple of months ago, he started twisting the pacifier (“boote“) in his mouth so it is always upright. You can insert it upside-down, or he will insert it upside-down himself, but he always rights it.
He’s been so fussy and crying while sick. There is little I can do to sooth him. Toy playing only works for a moment, and only if the toy is novel. What works reliably and for a longer period is playing music, especially Raffi:

Not watching the video; he doesn’t need that… he just needs music!
